We are excited to be partnering with a privately owned, fast-growing construction business in Brisbane seeking a commercially sharp Financial Controller to work directly with the GM and Directors.
The Role
This is not your standard Financial Controller role. This is for someone who understands how projects actually run on site. You can translate daily operational performance into margin, cashflow and commercial outcomes. This is hands-on. High visibility. Operationally embedded and is a project financial control in a multi-project, construction environment.
Responsibilities
- Daily job costing & Project P&L reporting
- Weekly WIP & stage of completion revenue recognition
- Forecast cost-to-complete & margin-to-complete
- Project cashflow forecasting & progress claim tracking
- Commercial exposure to delays, variations & liquidated damages
- Labour productivity KPI dashboards
- Payroll, AP and AR oversight (blue-collar workforce exposure preferred)
- BAS/IAS and statutory compliance
- Monthly management reporting & statutory compliance
- You'll work directly with Project Managers and site teams: challenging assumptions, identifying overruns early, and protecting margin.
Qualifications
- 5+ years in a similar Financial Controller / Senior Finance role
- Strong WIP, job costing and project controls background
- Construction, mining or infrastructure experience
- Experience in multi-project environments
- Comfortable challenging operational stakeholders
- Hands-on, conscientious, commercially strong
- This role requires someone who understands contracting environments, not purely corporate or audit backgrounds.
