Due to ongoing growth, my client is seeking an experienced Payroll Analyst to join our Melbourne-based payroll team.

About the Role
Reporting to the Payroll Manager, the Payroll Analyst will support the accurate and timely delivery of payroll for a large employee population. This role has a strong focus on payroll processing, analysis, compliance, and system support within a high-volume retail environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpretation and application of Retail Awards, Enterprise Agreements, and relevant legislation
- Payroll reporting, reconciliations, and variance analysis
- Managing payroll adjustments, back pays, allowances, penalties, and terminations
- Responding to payroll queries from employees and stakeholders
- Supporting payroll audits and compliance activities
- Assisting with payroll system enhancements, testing, and process improvements
- Ensuring compliance with Fair Work, tax, superannuation, and statutory obligations
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in a payroll role within a large, complex organisation (retail or multi-site environment highly regarded)
- Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, awards, and compliance requirements
- Experience working with large payroll systems e.g. SAP or Chris21
- High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Confident communicator able to work with stakeholders at all levels
- Ability to manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment
