About the Role

As Payroll Manager, you will own the end-to-end payroll function while leading a small team. With a focus on leadership, governance and continuous improvement, you'll partner with key stakeholders to ensure payroll is delivered accurately, compliantly and in line with broader business objectives.

Duties:

  • Lead, mentor and develop the payroll team, fostering a high-performing environment
  • Oversee end-to-end payroll delivery, ensuring accuracy, compliance and timeliness
  • Conduct audits across payroll processes including compliance, superannuation and reporting
  • Manage key reporting requirements including EOFY and statutory obligations
  • Ensure compliance with Awards, EBAs, legislation and internal policies
  • Drive process improvements and reduce manual workarounds
  • Partner with HR and Finance leadership on strategic initiatives and change
  • Maintain and enhance payroll systems to ensure they are fit for purpose
  • Lead governance, risk management and controls across the payroll function
  • Provide coaching and guidance to stakeholders on payroll processes and systems

Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience leading payroll teams in complex environments
  • Strong end-to-end payroll knowledge including Awards, EBAs and legislation
  • Experience operating within a broader HR or shared services environment
  • Demonstrated ability to drive process improvement and efficiency
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on support when required
  • Proven ability to manage deadlines and competing priorities
