About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Payroll Team Leader to join a dynamic team in Melbourne. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll oversee payroll operations, mentor a team, and ensure accurate, timely payroll delivery across sites. If you have strong payroll expertise, leadership skills, and a passion for process improvement, this could be your next career move.

Duties:

  • Lead and manage a team of payroll professionals, providing coaching and guidance

  • Manage payroll month-end and year-end processes, ensuring accurate reconciliations and compliance with all audit requirements

  • Ensure compliance with relevant awards, legislation, and payroll policies

  • Partner with wider business on payroll-related projects, including system upgrades or implementations

  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve accuracy

  • Provide expert advice and support to stakeholders on payroll queries

Skills and experience:

  • Extensive payroll experience, ideally with experience leading a team

  • Strong knowledge of payroll systems (e.g. SAP, Chris21 or similar)

  • Excellent understanding of award interpretation and payroll legislation

  • Proven ability to manage multiple payroll cycles across different locations

  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills

  • Positive, proactive, and detail-oriented approach
