ABOUT THE ROLE
This role sits within a specialist SMSF audit function, responsible for managing a high-volume but well-structured audit portfolio of approximately 750-800 SMSF audits annually, supported by strong systems and processes.
You'll work end-to-end across SMSF audits, with exposure to technical matters, workflow management, and collaboration with accountants and trustees. The role suits someone who values autonomy, clarity of expectations, and a steady workflow without unnecessary pressure.
DUTIES
- Plan and perform end-to-end SMSF audits
- Prepare and review audit files using CaseWare
- Assess compliance with the SIS Act and Regulations
- Prepare Audit Reports and Management Letters
- Complete and lodge Auditor Contravention Reports where required
- Liaise with accountants, trustees, and internal stakeholders
- Assist with workflow management and process efficiencies
- Support and review work of junior team members (where applicable)
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Australian SMSF audit experience essential
- Experience managing SMSF audits from start to finish
- CA or CPA qualified or in progress (not essential)
- Strong understanding of SMSF compliance requirements
- Experience with CaseWare and Xero highly regarded
- Strong communication and time management skills
- Local Australian experience required
