Accounts Payable Team Leader

We're partnering with a large, well-established organisation based in Port Melbourne to recruit an experienced Accounts Payable Team Leader. This is a fast-paced, high-volume role offering the opportunity to lead a strong team and drive process improvements within a dynamic finance function.
The Opportunity
Reporting into the AP Manager, you'll lead a team of 8 and take ownership of the invoice processing function-particularly managing exceptions and invoices that fall outside of automation workflows. You'll work closely alongside another AP Team Leader who oversees payments, ensuring seamless end-to-end AP operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 8 AP professionals
- Oversee high-volume invoice processing within a large ERP system
- Manage and resolve invoice exceptions (invoices stuck in the system or not captured by automation)
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of supplier invoices
- Partner with internal stakeholders to resolve discrepancies and improve workflows
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across AP processes
- Collaborate closely with the Payments Team Leader to maintain operational efficiency
About You
- Proven experience managing or leading an Accounts Payable team
- Strong background in high-volume invoice processing environments
- Hands-on experience with large ERP systems such as NetSuite, D365, SAP, or similar
- Skilled in identifying and resolving system/process issues relating to invoice automation
- Strong attention to detail with excellent problem-solving skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
