About the Role
As Payroll Manager, you'll lead a team of payroll professionals responsible for delivering accurate and timely payroll to a large, diverse workforce. You'll oversee the day-to-day payroll operation while working closely with People & Culture, Finance and the broader business to ensure payroll is delivered accurately, compliantly and with a strong focus on the employee experience.
Alongside BAU leadership, you'll play a role in the ongoing evolution of the payroll function, contributing to process improvements and broader business initiatives.
Duties
- Lead the end-to-end payroll function, ensuring payroll is processed accurately, compliantly and on time
- Manage, mentor and develop an experienced payroll team
- Partner closely with People & Culture, Finance and key business stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with payroll legislation, awards, taxation and superannuation requirements
- Identify and implement payroll process improvements
- Prepare payroll reporting and insights for key stakeholders
- Manage complex payroll matters and provide technical guidance across the business
- Foster a customer-focused payroll function that delivers an exceptional employee experience
Skills and Experience
- Demonstrated experience leading payroll within a medium to large organisation
- Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, awards and compliance requirements
- Proven leadership experience with the ability to coach and develop high-performing teams
- Experience contributing to payroll projects, process improvements or change initiatives
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach with the ability to balance operational delivery and continuous improvement
